Nourishing the Soul

I love the word nourish. And when I read the definitions, I love it even more:

  • to sustain with food or nutriment; supply with what is necessary for life, health, and growth.
  • to cherish, foster, keep alive, etc.
  • to strengthen, build up, or promote.

What do you choose to nourish? Providing nourishment to yourself shows how much you value yourself and that you are choosing to foster and strengthen your body, mind and spirit to not only survive, but to grow. How beautiful is that?

When I think of this time of year, nourishment sounds comforting and warm. It sounds like a cozy blanket with a warm cup of coffee, or a night in front of the fire, or laughing and connecting deeply with others. It sounds like a warm shower, a massage, or a good book.

Because nourishment fosters your strength and your growth, I challenge you to identify 2-3 ways in which you can nourish yourself (a) physically, (b) emotionally, (c) intellectually and (d) spiritually. Try to incorporate one of those activities every day. And then send me a message of your list. I find it so encouraging to hear what others are doing in order to lift themselves up. It sounds so powerful, doesn’t it?
